Product Description
As one of the energy obtaining ways with easy operation and cheap raw material, bagasse biomass pelletizing provides customers with not only great profits but also cozy living environment. During sugarcane manufacturing process in tropical and subtropical district, over one million tons of bagasse are produced. The economic value of direct burning or throwing away is very low, so a new applying method of making sugarcane bagasse pellets from them has been developed and put into use.
Bagassse is a tree-free, renewable resource made from sugarcane fiber left after juice is extracted. A typical chemical analysis on a washed and dried dasis of sugarcane bagasse might be:
Item Cellulose Hemicellulose Lignin Ash Waxes Content 45–55% 20–25% 18–24% 1–4% <1% From every ten tonnes of sugarcane, 3 tonnes of sugarcane bagasse is produced. It is usually changed into pellet form for ease of use. Interestingly even though sugarcane bagasse is merely a by-product of sugar production, it has many advantageous qualities.
Unfortunately the moisture content of sugarcane bagasse is nearly 40 to 50 percent. This property makes it an inefficient fuel source. For this reason, further processing is required. When it has to be used as a source of electricity, it needs to be stored while moist to avoid over-drying.

Sugarcane Bagasse Pellet Mill Show Details
1. The first step in the bagasse pellet making process is drying. The bagasse needs to be heated to high temperatures to remove the moisture. The goal is to decrease the moisture content from 40 to 50 percent to 12 percent or less. If this step is ignored, the pellets will not be able to be used for fuel production and will result in rough pellet surfaces.
2. The second step insugarcane bagasse pellet production process is crushing and cutting the material into small pieces ranging from 3 to 5 millimeters. This makes way for the third and most important step in the process, pelletizing. This step is usually done with the help of pellet mills who have the required machinery to create pellets. Some people try to create their own pellets at home by purchasing the required machinery.
3. After pellets are created, they are cooled and sieved. Pellet manufacturers usually have large sieving units they use to create large volumes of pellets. The last step in the process is packaging the pellets. This is usually done with the help of large packing machines. Once the pellets are packaged, they can be sent to customers.
Sugarcane bagasse pellets applications
1. As a Fuel Source
One ton of sugarcane can produce about 300kg bagasse. The production of sugarcane bagasse per year in Brazil is 75~90 million tons. About 90% or more is used as fuel to supply power for factory. With wood pellets making machine, bagasse can be extruded into pellets fuel.
Some sugar mill owners sell their excess sugarcane bagasse pellets to other factories with boilers or export them to foreign countries. Recently many East Asian countries such as China have started imported large quantities of sugarcane bagasse pellets. An average size power plant usually consumes over 10,000 tonnes of sugarcane bagasse pellets every month.
2. As Animal Feed
With feed pellet mill, through high pressure and high temperature processing, bagasse can be used as animal feed instead of grass and other fodder materials. Bagasse feed pellets can mainly be used to feed cattle, cows, sheep, fish and so on.Years of experiments show that adding 38%~40% puffed bagasse in forage does good to animals’ healthy. The experimental data is as below:
Item | BH1 | BH2 | BH3 |
---|---|---|---|
Content of Bagasse | 52% | 38% | 25% |
Daily Weight Gain of Cattle | 0.866 | 1.012 | 0.985 |
3. As Pulp and Paper
In countries such as India, China, Colombia, Iran, Thailand and Argentina, bagasse is used in lieu of wood to create paper and pulp. Bagasse has good qualities for creating paper for mass production and distribution. It is also used to create thicker material boxes and boards as a substitute for plywood. Many companies even use it to build furniture.
Factory for Sugarcane Bagasse pellet plant
1. Convenient traffic
The factory should be in the place with convenient transportation, which helps raw materials import and final pellets export. It would be better that the factory is near where abundant raw materials can be supplied, which can lower the transportation cost.
2. Geographical location
The factory location should be flat with good ventilation and at least 200 meters away from the residential area.
3. Factory area
Generally factory area is not less than 150 square meters. Because small pellet plant occupies around 20 square meters and temporary land with no less than 30 square meters for the storage of raw materials. If the large-scale pellet plant is applied, the factory area accordingly should be enlarged. Please choose the suitable factory space according to the investment, production scale and so on.
